Bishop Candidates Coming to St. Margaret’s

On October 22, an announcement was made by the Diocese that the Standing Committee had approved The Rev. Canon Susan Brown Snook as a candidate for election as Bishop. This was followed by a petition period in which other candidates could be submitted for consideration and approval by the Standing Committee.

On December 27, the Standing Committee announced that two petition candidates had been approved. They are The Rev. Dr. Roy E. Hoffman and The Rev. Dr. Michael S. Tinnon.

As part of the process for electing the fifth Bishop of San Diego, the three candidates will be at St. Margaret’s on Monday, January 14, 2019. We invite you to attend this very special evening which will begin at 7 p.m.

You will have the opportunity to meet the candidates, to hear them speak and to ask questions. In the meantime, we are providing brief biographies of each candidate (listed alphabetically) with links to their full biographies, resumes and responses to the essay questions that were given to each candidate, with the hope that you will take some time to get to know them before you meet them.

The Rev. Dr. Roy E. Hoffman is chaplain-in-residence at St. Peter’s, Del Mar and command chaplain at the San Diego Naval Base. He is a member of the diocesan task force on compassionate care for victims of clergy sexual misconduct and a certified trainer in the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.
