Rector’s Last Sunday is January 20

Lane and Kathleen, July 23, 2017

God of all ages and keeper of our days,
we lay before you this season in which we find ourselves.
What has been is ending
and we know not what lies ahead.
Be with us in this time
and give us the courage and patience to live these days
of losing and finding
mindful, as Jesus taught his friends,
that the grain of wheat must be planted in the earth and die
in order to bear much fruit.  Amen.
Frank T Griswold

I will be communicating with you frequently during our transitional communal journey of faith.  The process will require patience and a great amount of discernment.  We have many opportunities awaiting us as we embark on our journey.

The first one is coming on January 20, 2019 when we celebrate Lane’s contributions to St Margaret’s with a special Sunday 10:00 service followed by a reception. That will be Lane’s last day at St Margaret’s. Please make sure you have that date on your calendar as it will be a very special day.

I am guessing the next question might be what happens next … another great gift! Kathleen Kelly will be joining the staff as the lead Pastor. She will begin on January 7, 2019 so there is adequate time to partner with Lane for a smooth transition. She will help to lead us through reflective times to gain clarity for past unconscious decisions, so we can make healthy conscious choices for our future. We expect Kathleen will be in the head Pastor position until approximately Easter, by which time we should have made progress in identifying an Interim Rector with the skills needed for our context. The Vestry and I are working very closely with the Bishop to select the best person.

Both Kathleen and I would be more than happy to answer your questions.  In light of prior commitments, Kathleen will need to be away from us on January 27th but will be back for our Annual Meeting on January 30th in the evening. I hope many of you will be able to come to the Annual Meeting this year, where Bishop Katherine and The Rev. Laura Sheridan-Campbell, who directs transition work for the Diocese, will both join us.

Peace and Blessings!
