“Remember you are dust…

Ash Wednesday

… and to dust you shall return.”

With those words on Ash Wednesday, ashes are imposed on us as we are marked with the sign of the cross and invited to an observance of a holy Lent.

Ash Wednesday is March 6, 2019. There will be two services at St. Margaret’s on that day, one at 10 a.m. and one at 5 p.m. In addition to the imposition of the ashes, the Eucharist will be celebrated at each service.

Another Ash Wednesday option is to hike to the cross, celebrating the Eucharist on the mountain. Anyone wishing to participate should meet on the steps in front of the church at 9 a.m. for the imposition of ashes. The Rev. David Burgdorf will lead the hike, stopping at various points along the way for prayer and the liturgy of the Eucharist. Please note that the hike to the cross is recommended only for those who are in great physical shape, as it is a strenuous hike. For those who are not accustomed to walking on an inclined trail, we highly suggest that you attend one of the services in the church.
