St. Margaret’s Receives All Clear after Bomb Threat

This morning, St. Margaret’s received a vague bomb threat by email. The threat was reported to the Riverside County Sheriff’s department, which dispatched deputies and the fire department. The building was evacuated, including outside groups meeting in the building, and the adjacent Discovery of Learning campus, operating on the site of the earlier St. Margaret’s Episcopal School. Police and fire department officials blockaded the parking lot for about two hours before giving the all clear.

Choir practice is cancelled for tonight, and other evening groups are being notified so they can make their own decisions about cancellation.

The threat was one of several received throughout the Coachella Valley and nationwide, police said. The St. Margaret’s Vestry is in conversation with the Jewish Federation and security consultants reviewing existing and evolving security protocols.
