This Sunday, Rabbi David Lazar of Temple Isaiah, Rabbi Richard Zionts of the Har-El Institute for Study and Worship in the Reform Tradition, and Imam Raymundo Nour of the Islamic Society of Palm Springs will join us for our 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist, read from Scripture, and stand together in solidarity for justice and against hate, bigotry, and violence as we’ve seen over the last week. The sermon will focus strongly on how Christians and all people ought to respond according to Christ’s justice. The Rev. Cherry Remboldt, deacon at St. Margaret’s, will offer the Gospel reading, and the Rev. Lane Hensley, Rector of St. Margaret’s, will be preaching, and the Rev. Deborah Seles, Associate Rector of St. Margaret’s, will be presiding.
With the permission of Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, we will use these readings:
Micah 6:6-8 (chanted in Hebrew); Rabbi Lazar
Psalm 146:5-10; Rabbi Zionts
Romans 12:9-21; Imam Nour
Matthew 15:21-28; Deacon Remboldt
We’ll be using a Litany for Social Justice prepared by the Episcopal Church Office of Government Relations.
Services begin at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 47535 State Hwy. 74 in Palm Desert, and are open to all.
